Texas Digital Sanborn Maps provide detailed property and land-use records of Texas towns and cities from 1867 to 1970. Details on buildings include outline, size and shape, construction materials, height, use, windows and doors, street and sidewalk widths, boundaries and house numbers.

The Sanborn maps were drawn to help access fire insurance risk in cities all over the country. They are available from the Library of Congress. They were made as individual sheets covering a few blocks. Here is an attempt to combine them in one map image.
Some of the georeferencing still isn't right and I'm still having trouble getting a high resolution image saved to Imgur, which degrades the jpg. Still, I hope everyone enjoys this.
And some fun with the historical maps and contemporary Houston, centered on Market Square.
